Now that Sophie is almost 15 months, Freddie and
I have decided to try for another baby. We're both 39 and time is definitely
slipping away if we want to have a larger family. I went back to the fertility clinic to get back on clomid and
monitoring, like our pregnancy with Sophie and we hoped things would go
'easily'. Well, this cycle just sucked as I'm just not ovulating.
Today is day 33 and my follicles are still tiny [2-4mm] and there is no
ovulation in sight, so instead we'll stimulate a period using birth control and
try again next month...but....
It turns out that they think its
because I'm still taking Domperidone for breastfeeding and have suggested that
there is nothing they can do until I stop taking the meds or stop
breastfeeding. I'm so sad, as I didn't want to stop yet. I nurse Sophie to
sleep [I doubt she gets any milk at our two naps, but I use the LactAid at
night and I pump in the middle of the night and get about 4oz]. I know that
just because I stop the Domperidone doesn't mean that my milk output will change...but
what if it does? And what if stopping the Dom isn't enough and I have to stop
breastfeeding altogether? That's the way she goes to sleep - I nurse her to
sleep. Not only might I need to stop breastfeeding, but also find another way
for her to nap and go to sleep. Any ideas on how to transition her to
sleeping on her own? She's slept on me for the last 15 months - her
entire life - I'm just freaking out a bit... I hate being 39 and in a rush to
have another baby. Wish I could nurse her another year then start thinking
about the next babe. :-(

Sorry I don't have any suggestions. I never did try the breastfeeding thing. I'll be praying for your TCC though!

Hey girlie! This is in response to the comment on my blog about potty training...
ReplyDeleteJoanna - Shoot me an e-mail at mrsnice777 at hotmail.com and I'll explain!

Hi Jamie - I haven't forgotten. I will email about the potty training details. We were doing well with the way things were going. I knew that Sophie went after naps and mealtimes, but then she had a fever for a week and it all went out the window. Now we're back to square one...and its unfortunate as she was going 60-70% of the time when I put her on the potty. We'll be trying again soon as she has a nasty cold now. I'll be in touch...or if you have a bit of time to email me [as I can't seem to find the time to do it myself...hate admitting that!!] my email is ChronicPain at live.ca Thanks so much Jamie!!
DeleteJust thought I'd let you know I'd been thinking about you...and totally, totally, totally know about hating how old we are because of the rush to expand family. I hate that my age is essentially what has stopped us from any more children. I get it.
ReplyDeleteLots of love, and praying that the age of this post has since found better fertility news!
Hi Lori,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind note. I often think of you guys and wonder how you are doing...as well as the other ladies. No, sadly no better fertility news. We're doing our 3rd monitored cycle [and date night] and not going well. The first cycle I didn't ovulate at all. So I stopped the Domperidone and I still breastfeed Sophie but its more for comfort. When I pump at night, I only get 1-2oz. Then last month I ovulated early. This month the follicles are just not growing and not much is happening. I spoke with the nurse at the fertility clinic and they are going to up my dose of Clomid and add Femara next month, so maybe something will get moving. I'm just frustrated as everyone told me and I believed that my body had gone through a full pregnancy and 'knew' how to do it and that it would be easier the second [or third] time around...but so far, that is not the case. The clomid and birth control to start the cycle makes me really irritable and frankly I've been snapping sometimes...and the stress of all this and worrying that I turn 40 in May has got me totally worried. Let's hope next month is better. Sending you lots of love Lori!!!
