Aunt Flo is here :-)

Finally, after 45, yes, FOURTY FIVE days, Aunt Flo has finally arrived!  I couldn't be more thrilled!!  Now, normally, I'd be heartbroken to see this nasty "relative" arrive, but since this last month was so stressful and didn't seem to lead to ovulation at all, I'm just thrilled that it's done and over with. The only other time I was thrilled to see Aunt Flo was after the loss of our angel, as it meant that my body was getting back to a new normal.  Now, I'm hoping that this new cycle will be "normal", meaning that there is ovulation and a cycle that lasts 28-32 days. I don't think that I can do another 45 day cycle!!

I also broke down this weekend and purchased the FertileFocus Saliva Microscope, which tests your saliva to detect ovulation.  It claims to show "ferning" of the saliva when ovulation is near, claims to be easy to use, reusable, and suitable for women with irregular cycles (if this last month was any indication of what may be coming in the future).  It was pretty cheap, $27 and free shipping, so Freddy encouraged me to give it a try with the "Why not" type of reasoning.  So I did.  I did read mixed reviews of this product, but the happy reviews outnumbered the not-so-happy reviews by about 5:1, so I think that overall I should be happy with this.

My other "big" purchase was the Clearblue Fertility Monitor. This is supposed to be suitable for women with cycles of 28-32 days, which I hope to return to.  Fingers crossed.  It should arrive here by the time that Aunt Flo leaves, so the timing would be perfect.  I hope that this is worth it!  Again, Freddy, ever the optimist, kept saying that $120 was nothing if it meant that we'd have a baby to show for it. I agreed, and so bit the bullet and gave this a shot.  Clearly, I'm very frugal when it comes to spending money, and I'm not sure how much better it will be than the cheapie OPK's I've been using, but I'm willing to give it a shot.  Wish us luck!

The only downside to Aunt Flo's visit has been the incredibly back and body pain that I've been experiencing for the last few days.  I could barely stand it.  I kept squirming and tossing on the couch, as the moment that I was still, the back and leg pain was so intense that I could scream.  At least knowing why I'm in so much more pain makes it easier to understand, but overall, the amount of pain that I've been in lately has increased drastically in terms of frequency.  I hope this tapers off a little bit soon, as I need the break!
